Wet weather

We are still at a standstill. We had 2.5" rain over the weekend. Things are starting to dry out a bit. I hope that I can get a few acres of burndown done tomorrow, but it is still going to be too wet to plant. They are talking more rain Thursday. After that hopefully we can get another push.

2009 Planting

We are located in Southern Wisconsin. We have 2500 acres of corn and soybeans, primarily corn. We run acres in 3 counties, 2 in WI, and 1 in IL. This year has been a complete 180 from last spring. We are close to 50% done with our corn acres, in comparison to 5% this time last year. We had 2.5 inches of rain the past few days, so we will be shut down for a brief period of time...hopefully not too long. This is new to me, but I wanted to start this with an open mind. It is always beneficial for producers to learn from each other. I would like this to be an open discusion on crops, markets, input prices, land, etc, etc. Hopefully we all can learn a few things to better our operations and ultimately continue to grow.
